Amit Sachdeva is an Indian social entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder of prestigious ‘Mahatma Award.’ He is also known as the 'CSR Man of India' because of his contribution in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability. Amit comes from the family of freedom fighters and social workers and his great grand father Lala Lakhu Ram was a freedom fighter and imprisoned in Jail during India's freedom struggle. His grand father Lala Lekhraj Sachdeva was deeply engaged in social service.
His advocacy for mandatory CSR spending since 2009, which later turned into a law is well known and well respected in corporate circles in the country. It was not a smooth ride for him as many advocacy groups criticized his push for mandatory CSR spending. The historic Bill was presented in Indian parliament by then Corporate Affairs Minister Mr. Sachin Pilot on August 2013 and with the passage of this New Companies Bill, India became the first country to legally mandate corporate social responsibility on April 1, 2014, The new rules in Section 135 of India’s Companies Act make it mandatory for companies with certain turnover and profitability to spend two percent of their average net profit for the past three years on Corporate Responsibility (CSR).

Today, he is a leading authority on Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability, having founded many social initiatives across spectrum with more than two decades of experience working closely with many leading corporations and nonprofit organizations globally on the subject matter of sustainability, ethics, social responsibility, circular economy, impact investing and corporate governance. He is currently the Editor-in-chief of a well cited 'CSR Good book', which the only ready reckoner and compendium of corporate social responsibility in India.
His mission is to inspire, empower, and connect people, especially Millennial and Generation Z to make this world a better place.

Published the first ever book of corporate sustainability and social responsibility in 2010 i.e.,'CSR Good Book', presented to Mr. Sachin Pilot, then Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, Government of India at a FICCI annual function. The book is in it's 10th edition and a ready reckoner for sustainability and CSR professionals.
